Our Community

At OCC, we think about our operations and our impact on the island and the larger community. We have made a conscious effort to use as few natural resources as possible.

Did you know that the hot water used at the shop is heated with solar energy? Our cups are made from recycled, compostable materials!

We make every attempt to recycle as many items as possible and would ask you to do the same.  We believe that where we purchase beans is as important as the quality of the beans.  Therefore, many of our beans are certified organic as well as Fair Trade Certified and Rainforest Alliance Certified.  As always, we endeavor to provide more choices for our customers.

We believe in helping our immediate community by supporting the Ocracoke School, WOVV radio station, Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department, OcraFestival and other local annual activities.  Our commitment to community extends far beyond the Island. Globally, we support two nonprofit organizations, Cup for Education and Grounds for Health. The missions of these two organizations coincide with our ideals in helping others in becoming educated, healthy members of society.
